Mode of action:

Cardus mar

The silymarin, the flavonolignan complex from cardus mar. Which have a protective action on hepatic cells against hepatotoxic agent. Silymarin also have a tonic action on the veins. It is an inducer of phase-I detoxification, and protects liver mitochondria and microsomes from lipid peroxidation. This protection also occurs with flavonoids quercetin. Silymarin cause hepatic regeneration and increase hepatic glutathione in vivo.

Lipid peroxidation, the oxidative degeneration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, is implicated in several pathological condition—— aging, hepatotoxicity, haemolysis, cancer, atherosclerosis and various inflammation. Selected flavonoids may exert protective effect against cell damage produced by lipid oxidation owning to the antioxidant property of the compound.

Zingiber

It is usually prescribed with the remedies of similar action such as Chelidonium majus and Taraxacum. It is used in dyspepsia, vomiting and diarrhea.

Chelidonium

It contains two main alkaloids chelidonine and sanguinarine. They are responsible for pharmacodynamics actions on liver and bile ducts, with cholagogic, choleretic and hypolipidimic. Chelidonic acid has sedative as well as anti-viral and anti-microbial effect.
