Mode of action:
Berberis Vulg
Xanthine oxidase causes hyperuricemia leading to gout and renal stones. Berberine, an active constituent of Berberis, is an important inhibitor of xanthine oxidase. Berberis vulgaris has been used in allopathic medicine as an antipyretic,cholagogue, and purgative. Inhibition of xanthine oxidase reduces the oxidation of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid. The urinary purine load, normally almost entirely uric acid, is thereby divided between hypothesize, xanthine, and uric acid. Each with its independent solubility. This results in a reduction of uric acid concentration in both plasma and urine ideally to such an extent that deposits of uric acid are dissolved or prevented from forming.
Cantharis
It contains Cantharidin. It is used in acute cystitis and hemorrhagic nephritis.
Dioscorea
It contains principally steroidal saponins (diosgenin glycosides). Dioscorea is used for biliary colic, gallstones, and rheumatic pains. It is also good for chronic problems associated with gas and flatulence.
Petroselinum
Urinary symptoms give the keynotes for this remedy for urinary tract infection particularly root extract helping to dissolve and expel stones and gravels. Active constituents are flavonoids glycosides (diuretic action), and essential oils rich in myristicin has vasodilators and anti-infective effect. It also contains vitamin A, vitamin C, and iron.
Kalium Citric
It has anti-urolithic properties. It is used to prevent the reoccurrence of calcium stones. It acts as a urinary alkalizer and increases citrate excretion. Citrate forms a complex with calcium to reduce urinary saturation of calcium salts and inhibit crystallization. It is the main treatment option in patients with hypocitrate urea and renal tubular acidosis.
Stigmata Maydis
The extract of stigmata is used for supportive treatment of chronic nephritis. It is successfully used in urinary problems and in organic heart diseases with much edema of lower extremities, scanty urination, and enlarged prostate. It benefits diabetic nephropathy. The aldehyde group of reducing sugar and amino residue in protein reacts and results in the formation of aggregates (advanced glycation end product). The formation of these aggregates in the human body through glycation is associated with the induction of diabetic complications. Of the purines and pyrimidine present in stigmata only guanocine was found to be a glycation inhibitor.
Thuja OCC
Active constituents are flavonoids, tannins, and essential oils, mainly thujone which stimulate urinary excretion and have a specific action on skin and mucus membranes.
Vesicaria Com
It is a multi-functional remedy in albuminuria, cystitis, dropsy, gravel, nephralgia, and prostatitis.
Uvaursi
It contains arbutin, flavonoids, tannins, malic, and Gallic acids. It is a diuretic, urinary antiseptic, and astringent. It is indicated for urinary tract infections, in particular cystitis, urethritis, and prostatitis.
