Ingredient:
Ivy leaf extract (Hedera helix)
Constituents of ivy leaf extract:
The most important constituents are about 2.5 to 6% mostly bidesmosidic triterpens, saponins with hederagenin, oleanolic acid and bayogenin.
Small amounts of mono-desmocytes such as α-hederin and hederagenin.
Main saponins isHederasaponin C with other Hedera saponin (B, D, E, F, G, H and I) present as well.
Flavonoids such as quercetin and kaempferol.
Caffeic acid derivative and other phenolics such as caffeic acid, dihydroxybenzoaic acid, coumarin glycosides scopolin.
Phytosterol such as stigmasterol, cytosterol and cholesterol, campesterol, volatile oils and free amino acids.

Preston syrup is a homeopathic remedy to treat catarrh of respiratory extract, by its secrtolytic. broncho-spasmolytic and cough reliving effect. It is indicated in the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Pharmacological effect:
Ivy leaf extract has following pharmacological effect:
Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, hepato protective, antioxidants and anti exsudative. Histopathologic parameter in chronic asthma.
Special precaution:
Use the syrup in children under the age of one year only after consulting with a doctor. Compared with older children this age group should monitored very carefully being given Preton syrup as a particular attention must paid to possible diarrhea and vomiting.
In pregnancy and breast feeding:

Adults: 10 ml thrice a day
Children: Age 3 to 6 years: 2.5 ml two times daily.
Age 6 to 12 years: 5 ml two times daily.
Over dosage:
Do not exceed the recommended daily doses. Meanwhile dose of significantly high amount may lead to nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Safety profile:
