During the last years, researchers have performed a number of experimental studies on various plants to evaluate their anti-ulcer and anti-H. Pylori activities and to discover the bioactive compounds although most of them were done in vitro. For instance, it was revealed that flavonoid (especially quercitin) have anti-secretary, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-histaminic effect. Other phenolic compounds such as quinones (cytoprotective) and phenolic glycosides (anti-secretary) was reported as gastro protective factors.

Likewise, terpenoides as anti-ulcer composition with cytoprotective activity, enhance the production of mucus in the stomach. Furthermore, saponins have anti-secretary mechanism of action. In addition to these, it is demonstrated that plant glycyrrhiza and others can have a significant effect on treatment of peptic ulcer disease through their cytoprotective and an anti- H. pylori activities.

Antibiotic resistance and degradation by the acidic stomach environment is presently a remarkable issue. According to the mentioned results and on this basis it is believed that the anti-ulcer and the gastro protective properties of several medicinal herbs potentially have positive effects on treatment of H. pylori and its complications in humans.

HYDRASTIS CANADENSIS Q:

Clarke and Boerichae mention the homeopathic usefulness of hydrastine the active constituent of hydrastis canadensis in cancer, aphthae, sore mouth and in ulcer.  It contains most active isoquinoline alkaloids

(berberine and hydrastine) having anti-microbial activities. It inhibits bacterial efflux pumps and nucleic acid synthesis.

GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA Q + HYDRASTIS CANADENSIS Q:

(Dual combination therapy)

Water extracts of glycyrrhiza root containing polysaccharide show anti-adhesive activities. Glycyrrhetinic acid a component of glycyrrhiza potentiate the growth-inhibitory activity of the alkaloid berberine, a major constitute of golden sheep (hydrastis canadensis).

SANGONARIA CANADENSIS Q (Alternative dual therapy):

Traditionally, extracts of sangonaria canadensis was implied as homeopathic therapy. It is known that sangonarine a benzophenanthridine alkaloid derived from root of S. canadensis. Recent studies indicate that berberine and sangonarine are 

Potent inhibitors of DNA synthesis (repair and replication)- the likely mechanism for their anti-viral effect. Isoquinoline alkaloids, namely sanguinarine, chelerythrine and protopine inhibited the growth of the bacterium (H. Pylori) with MIC-50 values of 50-100 µg/ml.

BISMUTH SUBNITRICUM 1x (PRECIPITATED SUBNITRATES OF  BISMUTH):

In homeopathy the chief action of the drug is in eradication and catarrhal inflammation of the GIT. Bismuth salt eradicates H. pylori and this may be the action which is responsible for ulcer healing. It has strong affinity for mucosal glycoprotein’s, especially  in the necrotic tissue of the ulcer crater. Bismuth salt has been used for medical purposes for more than 200 years. It has mucosal protectant act.

BERGENIA CILIATA Q:

Aqueous extract of rhizomes were showed the presence of bergenin. The alcoholic extract of the rhizome showed a wide spectrum of concentration dependent antibacterial activity of B. Ciliata, at a concentration of 200-1000µg per disc. This activity is also confirmed in aqueous effect of crude drug. Bergenin has cytoprotective effects conferred by enhancement of mucosal barrier rather than by prevention of gastric acid secretion or by lowering the PH and acidity. 

SYMPHYTUM:

In homeopathy the root contains a crystalline solid that stimulate the growth of epithelium on ulcerated surfaces. It may be administered for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcer. Allantoin in symphytum increases cell proliferation, which account for its rapid healing power. Herb of highest content of mucilage having demulcent and anti-bleeding effect.

TREATMENT TIME:

7-30 days maintenance therapy or as advised by the registered medical practitioner.

First week: One tablet three times a day.

Second Week: One tablet twice a day
